Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine

Rubella can be prevented by Vaccination. The vaccine is available from the routine immunization and vaccine Development program as Measles Rubella (MR) vaccine. It is a single vaccine that has dual antigen of protecting against Measles and rubella Infection. It is a live attenuated virus and freeze- dried (lyophilized) vaccine. The vaccine is safe and highly effective. It is sensitive to sunlight hence it is kept in a coloured glass vials.

Vaccine Schedule

The vaccine is given in two (2) doses:

Ø  The First dose is given at the age 9 months

Ø  The Second dose is given at the age of 18 months
